Organize objects and materials straight from the 3D Viewport sidebar into your own category tree — thumbnailed, catalogued, and ready in Blender's own Asset Browser. No exporting, no hunting for the right folder.
Asset Organizer is an add-on for organizing a personal asset library directly from the 3D Viewport. Pick an Object or Material from the sidebar and it is saved into a folder-backed category tree, marked as a native Blender asset, and filed into Blender's own Asset Browser catalogs — no manual exporting, folder-hunting, or re-typing of names.
It is a friendlier front end over Blender's own asset system, not a replacement for it — everything it saves is a normal Blender asset, usable anywhere the Asset Browser already works.
.zip directly into the Blender window..zip.The first time you use it, set a Library Folder (see Settings below) — the one required step before anything else works.
Located in . Press N in the 3D Viewport if the sidebar isn't already open.
The panel is laid out top to bottom as:
Blender's PointerProperty UI field is tied to a single datablock type, which
is why Object and Material each get their own picker field rather than one field that
auto-detects which kind was chosen. When the active object has a name (and, for the
material button, an active material), two fallback buttons also appear —
Add '<object name>' and Add material '<material name>' — for
saving whatever is currently active in the viewport without opening the picker.
The target category for a picker save or a fallback-button save is always whichever category is currently selected in the tree below (shown as Target: <category name> at the top of the Add Asset box). Select (Library Root) to save without a category.
Toggle Include Materials (the material icon, top-right of the Categories box) to control whether saving an object brings its assigned materials along, or saves geometry only. On by default — the live object in your scene keeps its materials either way, this only affects what's written to the library file.
A collapsible folder tree, mirrored one-to-one onto real folders on disk inside your Library Folder. Categories can be nested arbitrarily deep.
Saving an Object or Material with the same name as one already saved in that category prompts a confirmation dialog before overwriting — it never overwrites silently. If an Object and a Material happen to share a name in the same category, the second one saved is automatically suffixed ("Name (Object)" / "Name (Material)") instead of colliding with the first.
.blend file and Blender restart.Because the library is just folders and .blend files on disk, it can be backed up, moved, or shared with a colleague like any other project folder — nothing about it depends on Asset Organizer being installed to be usable.
The Info, Give Feedback, and Report Bug buttons sit at the bottom of the panel:
